The Lake City High School cheerleaders showed their support for Breast Cancer Awareness week by creating signs with the slogans “Fight like a Girl” and “Cheer for a Cure”. On Friday night, the girls wore pink socks and matching t-shirts donated by Belk that read “Pink is our Passion” to honor all those effected by Breast Cancer. Najla Miller, a cheerleader, has a special reason to show support. Her grandmother is a survivor. Here’s what she had to say:
Breast Cancer week had an impact on my life. In November of 2005, my Grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer. It made me feel bad to know my grandma had a deadly disease. In March of 2006, my Grandma was cancer free. That doesn’t mean that she couldn’t get cancer again, but as of today, she doesn’t have it. I love my grandma, and I thank God to have a Grandma like her.
